Examinations

The Institution's examinations are held once a year worldwide, normally on the second Thursday and Friday in March. The IFE Examinations support candidates in gaining membership of IFE in the different grades. They are also recognised in many countries as showing academic attainment in Fire Engineering.

IFE Examinations Available 2012

Application Form

1. IFE Level 2 Certificate Examination.

The IFE Level 2 Certificate Examination consists of one examination paper containing 120 multiple choice questions. The Fire Engineering Science and Fire Service Operations sections of the paper each contain 45 questions and the Fire Safety section contains 30 questions.

Successful candidates will be awarded the following qualification:-

IFE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety.

2. IFE Level 3 Certificate Examination.

The IFE Level 3 Certificate Examination will now consist of four exam papers, with each paper lasting an hour and containing 25 multiple choice questions and 5 questions that require short written answers. For the order of the papers, please see below:-

Successful candidates will be awarded the following qualification:-

IFE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations, Safety and Management. (500/5922/1)

Success in this examination will also allow candidates to meet the academic requirement for membership of the Institution at Technician grade (TIFireE).

3. IFE Level 3 Diploma Examination.

A pass in the mandatory paper plus passes in three optional papers are required to achieve one of the following qualifications:

Fire Science, Operations and Safety. (500/5923/3)

bullet

Fire Science and Fire Safety. (500/6216/5)

bullet

Fire Science and Fire Service Operations. (500/6215/3)

Success in this examination will also allow candidates to meet the academic requirement for membership of the Institution at Graduate grade (GIFireE).
 

The examination papers offered within the Level 3 Diploma are as follows:-

Paper 1 Fire Safety (optional) bullet

Paper 2a Fire Service Operations - International (optional) bullet

Paper 2c Aero Fire Studies (optional) bullet

Paper 3 Fire Engineering Science (mandatory) bullet

Paper 4 Human Resource Management (optional) bullet

Paper 5 Fire Service Operations - UK (optional) bullet

Paper 6 Leadership & Management - UK (optional)

4. IFE Level 4 Certificate Examination.


A pass in the two mandatory papers plus passes in two optional papers are required to achieve the following qualification:

IFE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Science and Fire Safety. (500/5924/5)

Success in this examination will also allow candidates to meet the academic requirement for membership of the Institution at Member grade (MIFireE). The examination papers offered within the Level 4 Certificate are as follows:-

Paper 5 Strategic Human Resource Management (optional) bullet

Paper 6 Fire Service Operations (optional) bullet

Paper 11 Civil Emergency and Disaster Management (optional)

Level 2 Certificate:

  

60.00 AUD

Paper 1: Fire Engineering Science.

Level 3 Certificate :  

70.00 AUD either for papers 1 and 2 together or for papers 3 and 4 together.

90.00 pounds sterling for all four Level 3 Certificate papers in 2011.

Level 3 Diploma:        

90.00 AUD per paper. 

200.00 AUD for candidates sitting 4 papers (1 mandatory plus 3 optional).

Level 4 Certificate:          

100.00 AUD per paper. 

240.00 AUD for candidates sitting 4 papers (2 mandatory plus 2 optional).
