Confirmation has been received from the Chairman of the International IFE Education Committee that the following equivalencies have been awarded to the following IFE examinations. (30/08/07)

Technician Grade

Academic: PSTP Cert IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) will satisfy and therefore can be considered to be a general ICP precedent.

IPD: As for academic above

Summary: An individual who holds a PSTP Cert IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) and who wishes to be considered for TIFireE will only need to complete an application form and forward a copy of the PSTP certification to the National Secretary.

(Previous TAFE reciprocity, i.e. prior to PSTP introduction, will apply as currently exists)

Graduate Grade

Academic: PSTP Cert IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) will satisfy the requirement for the following Graduate papers - Operations / Management & Supervision / Fire Safety.

There will still be a requirement to satisfy the Fire Engineering Science element which could be met be the following examples - a: FES Grad paper; b: Alternative suitable qualification; c: Some PSTP Cert IVs may be OK (but this will require an assessment of the individual institution's PSTP course content); d: Technical report

IPD: PSTP Cert IV will satisfy these requirements

Summary: An individual who holds a PSTP Cert IV and who wishes to be considered for GIFireE will need to complete an application form and forward a copy of the PSTP certification and, in addition, provide the necessary evidence to satisfy the Fire Engineering Science requirement

Member Grade

Academic: In addition to the MIFireE exams, PSTP / TAFE Advanced Diploma with Member FES paper will satisfy. An alternative approach would be to apply under ICP with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.
