Institution of Fire Engineers, Australia

IFE Australia is proud to support the 2nd International Fire Instructors Workshop to be held in Sydney on the 27th and 28th of April. This event brings together some of the worlds leading firefighters, instructors, fire engineers and fire scientists. The theme for this years meeting is "Finding the Common Foundation".

Following this event, Battalion Chief Kriss Garcia will be presenting a 1 day Positive Pressure Attack Intermediate Course - Sydney 29th of April. He will be repeating this presentation in Perth on the 5th of May.

The IFE International Compartment Firefighting special interest group will be running it's first major conference. The International Firefighting Safety Conference will feature a large number of international experts and will be held in Sydney on April 30th and May 1st 2009.

The institution is the international qualifying organisation and learned society for fire engineering, firefighting and fire safety professionals. IFE is at the heart of the international fire and emergency community, promoting best practice and advancing the discipline for the benefit of society and supporting the professional development of members.

In Australia, we have around 700 members, and are one of the largest Branches in the world. A National Secretariat provides support to local co-ordinators in each of the states and territories who in turn have the ear of the grass roots membership. The entire infrastructure is about providing direct and tangible benefits to the individuals in the field.

Do you hold a Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) or higher? The Chairman of the IFE Education Committee has confirmed that persons holding the Cert IV are eligible for entry at Technician grade (TIFireE). You then need only to pass the Graduate Fire Science paper to be granted Graduate grade (GIFireE).

It has been recognised that if you hold the PSTP Advanced Diploma in Public Safety - Firefighting Supervision, that you can apply for Graduate Grade. You then only need to pass the Members Fire Science Paper to qualify for admission at Member Grade (MIFireE). Click here for full details.

Pathways to Professional Engineering Qualifications

The IFE is a licensed member of the ECUK and can register those members that meet the necessary criteria as Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) or Engineering Technicians (EngTech).

IFE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE GRANTS EQUIVALENCE FOR PSTP FIREFIGHTING QUALIFICATIONS
An individual who holds a PSTP Cert IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) and who wishes to be considered for TIFireE will only need to complete the special application form and forward a certified copy of the PSTP certificate. More information

Established in 1918, the professional network is not only extensive internationally, but it includes a very wide range of disciplines, which vary from Firefighting, Fire Protection, Technical and Engineering. Australian members  receive 12 editions of the "Fire Prevention Fire Engineers Journal". 
and 4 copies of the "Fire Australia Journal".
